“But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from Me. I, the Lord, have spoken!”
There are times during our Christian walk that we get discouraged because of attacks. These attacks may come from individuals who may seem to be “out to get us” or through other circumstances that discourage us in our lives. When we are eagerly seeking God in our lives and we feel constantly under attack, we should not become discouraged. Instead, we should believe in the promise our Lord gave to His servants through the prophet Isaiah. We may feel like we are loosing ground and like we will never succeed in overcoming. But the Lord promises that no weapon turned against us will succeed. Why? The later part of this verse gives us the answer. “These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from Me. I, the Lord, have spoken!” If we are serving the Lord, then our vindication belongs to Him and He will make sure no weapon that turns against us succeeds. Our Lord is the one we trust in to overcome our enemy.
He may choose to do this in different ways. It could be that He chooses to do it through a change of their hearts or possibly a change of our own heart. Whatever the technique He chooses, we should constantly stay focused on Him so He will be able to complete His work. We should look at our situation and ask ourselves two questions:
- What is the Lord doing in this situation?
- How can I participate by partnering with the Lord to accomplish His work?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to understand what You are doing in the situation that has caused turmoil in my life. Show me how I can participate in partnering with You so I can accomplish Your work. I pray this prayer with a desire to focus on Jesus. Amen.
