Suiting Up!!

by Kelly Dixon

Reading: Ephesian 6:10-18

One of the commitments each Ladies for Jesus Leadership Team Member has is to daily put on the full armor of God. This also is the commitments of the ladies from our recently developed ministry, Warriors of HOPE. I encourage you to check out the brochure about the ministry by going to http://www.warriorsofhope.org/. The ministry's focus is on the spiritual warfare against drug addiction and protection from Satan by lifting up their family members in prayer. Warriors of HOPE mission is stated as:

"We are spiritual warriors praying in agreement and partnering with Jesus Christ, our only HOPE for deliverance from the bondage of drug addictions and for protection from Satanic attacks on the lives of our families."

What a wonderful way to fulfill the call we each as Christians have to daily put on the armor. All Christians are called to be spiritual warriors and to daily put on the armor. Yet, many of us forget about its availability and in doing so we fall to the schemes of our enemy.

This prayer of putting on the full armor of God is not just words that are said to cover us from Satanic attack. It is the meaning of the heart that makes the prayer beneficial. Personally, when I pray to daily put on the armor of God, I am bringing to mind something that is already available to me. Every aspect of the armor is available to all Christians - with or without saying the words. Yet daily recognition makes me more aware and makes me strive for allowing the Holy Spirit to fulfill them in my life. I begin to look for truth; aim for righteousness; strive for peace; acknowledge my salvation; strengthen my faith and daily stay in the Scriptures. All done successfully by pulling my strength from the only One who could provide them all and that is Jesus Christ. It is a prayer that reminds me who I am and to Whom I belong.

How often do you remember to put on the full armor of God? Is it part of your daily routine? If not, then I encourage you to strive in recognizing daily the full armor of God. Make it part of your daily devotional to read about a part of the armor. It will change your life to realize how much your heavenly Father loves you and wants to protect you from the enemy. Ultimately, it will bring you that much closer to Jesus.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us Your armor. I recognize that I can't fight Satan with the artillery of the flesh. I pray that You will help me in daily recognizing Your truth, righteousness, peace, salvation, faith and Word that is readily available to me at any time. Amen.
